Overview

Code: Veronica X was built for fixed camera angles. This mod runs next to Dolphin and swaps them for a free over-the-shoulder camera in real time — or one key drops you into true first-person — without touching a file on disk. Bind it to keyboard, mouse, or a pad and tune the framing live.

Made by HeySnippy, on top of the Dolphin emulator and the dolphin-memory-engine library.

Installation

  1. 01 Download and extract the archive anywhere — the mod is portable, nothing installs into the game.
  2. 02 In Dolphin: right-click the game → Properties → Gecko Codes → Add New Code, paste the code below, and enable it.
  3. 03 Launch the game and play until you are controlling Claire or Chris.
  4. 04 Run RECVX-ModernCam.exe and click Activate — the light turns green once the camera is live.
  5. 05 Tune the framing and rebind controls in the app. Your settings save next to it.

Known Bugs

  • Camera glitches while playing as Chris

    There are a number of camera glitches when playing as Chris. Most can be fixed by modifying the config — a Chris-specific preset is coming soon.

  • Certain weapons break the camera

    Some weapons currently break the camera. This will be fixed in an upcoming update.

FAQ

Does it change my game or ISO?

No — nothing on disk is touched. It only moves the camera while you play, and stops the moment you click Deactivate.

Will it run alongside other mods?

Yes, with texture and cosmetic mods. The only conflict is another mod that also drives the camera.

How do I remove it?

Click Deactivate and delete the folder. To restore the original camera, turn off the Gecko code in Dolphin.

Is it safe? My antivirus flagged it.

It installs nothing and only reads and writes the emulator's memory while you play. Since it is not code-signed, SmartScreen may warn on first launch — click More info → Run anyway. You can verify the file on VirusTotal (linked on the download card).
